Home: Oakhurst.

Occupation: Forced retirement, May 2010. Sixteen years in banking, 17 years in radio, television, newspaper and Indian gaming advertising. Eight years as a newspaper columnist.

Hobbies: Writing two books, reading, camping, fishing, vinyl records and 13 award-winning years in community theater.

Bee reader since: 1982, when I moved to Fresno.

How many letters: 21 since 1992.

Favorite topics: How our laws fail to protect our God-given rights, and seldom address liberty and justice for all. Religion and social conditions.

Why do you write? I believe our nation is going in the wrong direction. We continue to lower our standards in the name of tolerance and compromise.

Education: Community college, Phoenix, Arizona, interrupted by voluntary military service in Vietnam. Forty-plus successful years at the Hard Knocks University.

Family: My wife, Janice, and I united our families 24 years ago. We have three children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons, one dog and one cat.

Political philosophy: My foundation is my Christian faith in God. Conservative.
