Fresno police arrested a man for allegedly firing a weapon and are searching for a second man -- a prolific auto thief -- after a home break-in Tuesday morning.
Police say Tino Tufono, 29, of Fresno, kicked in the front door of a home in the 4800 block of East Home Avenue. Police say he was trying to find a woman he had previously threatened. In the home, police say, he battered a different woman, who is pregnant.
As he struck the pregnant woman, Tufono was confronted by Victor Jimenez, 23, who threatened to shoot Tufono. Jimenez fired shots into the air and Tufono left the home. Tufono already is wanted by Fresno police as No. 4 on the city's most-wanted auto-thief list.
Jimenez, who tried to run from the home, was captured by police. He is a wanted parolee and gang member. He was booked into Fresno County Jail on a parole warrant and for suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Police said Tufono went to the home to assault a woman. He is considered an armed and dangerous gang member with several previous felony arrests.
