Schneider Electric has sliced about 30 jobs from the production work force at its Clovis manufacturing plant during the past week.
The layoffs include 24 temporary positions and six full-time employees at the facility, which produces Pelco brand video surveillance and security equipment.
Herve Fages, the company's vice president of product marketing, said the cuts were needed to match declining demand for the company's products. Fages said the company is offering placement and counseling services to the affected employees.
Clovis-based Pelco was purchased by Schneider Electric, a French company, in 2007. At that time, Pelco employed about 2,200 people in Clovis. The work force now numbers about 1,800 at the company, which formally adopted the Schneider Electric name late last year.
