She's qualified because: A year after timing 19:31 for 14th place as the Bears' No. 5 runner in the Central Section D-I final, she clocked 18:48 for fourth place as their No. 3 runner.

She then nearly duplicated the mark at 18:57 for 65th place in the CIF State Championship D-I race.

He said it: "She's a young lady who came to believe in herself. She once ran just to do something; now she's developed into a runner and student, and it's opened some doors for her to go to college. It's exciting for her, 'Wow, people want me, they want to know who I am.' " – Bears coach Brian Weaver.
