Local indie rock band Achievement House is what you'd call a hot prospect.

Buzz about them has been building around town over the past few months, and now Achievement House is on the verge of its first release.

The band -- Philip Freeman, Daniel Schultz, Mikey Moore and Whitney Freeman -- releases its first EP on Dec. 3. It'll be a digital release, with hard copies available on cassette. Yes, you read that right.

More immediately, you can catch Achievement House tonight at Audie's Olympic, 1426 N. Van Ness Ave., sharing the bill with The Silent Comedy and Fierce Creatures.

Here's your chance to get to know Achievement House:

How did Achievement House get started?

Daniel: Philip called me on the phone one fateful night in the summer of 2009. He had an idea for a musical project and was interested in working with me to develop some songs. As they came into fruition, we recruited Mikey to play bass and further complete our sound. Whitney became a part of the House in June of 2010, and her involvement in the project solidified the sound that we were striving for since the very beginning.

Describe the band's style? Who are your influences?

Daniel: Rhythmic, low-fidelity indie rock and late-'90s emo, with complex guitar and vocal arrangements. We frequently name-drop Deerhunter and American Football, but groups like Sunny Day Real Estate and Elliott have also played a part in influencing our sound. Also, Sleigh Bells, but that goes without saying.

What's the story behind the band name?

Philip: I saw a building that said "Achievement House" on it. I thought: 'That's a cool name for a band.'

Daniel: When Philip approached me about the project, he already had the name chosen, and told me it was non-negotiable. True story.

Seems like you guys are building some buzz in the local scene. To what do you attribute that?

Daniel: With no small amount of help from our dear friends in Fierce Creatures, we have been fortunate enough to get to know a fair amount of people in the local indie music and creative community, whether it be through former music projects our members have been involved in or just through happenstance. We've been honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the Fresno music scene, and are instilled with a work ethic that desires to bring a truly genuine and unique sound into the local mix.

When can we expect recorded material?

Daniel: On Dec. 3 at The Barnyard (1416 Clovis Ave.) we'll be releasing our inaugural cassette featuring songs that have been a staple of our live sets. The EP will be available soon after to download online for free, and links will be up on our website and Facebook page.

In exactly 13 words, tell us what an Achievement House live show is like.

Mikey: Rad, fast, beautiful.

Philip: Reverb, drums, shouts.

Whitney: Broken drum sticks.

Daniel: Blissed-out organized anarchy.

Where can people find you online?

Daniel: We're on Tumblr (achievementhouse.tumblr.com), and -- like every other band worth their salt -- you can be our fan on Facebook.
