A year ago, when Kendall Brock basically hobbled through a 1,608-yard rushing, 14-touchdown season, Bullard High coach Donnie Arax called the Clovis West junior the best running back in the Central Section.

His piston-pumping legs healthy, the acceleration at top speed and the extraordinary vision having been there all along, Brock staged an offensive show rivaling the best in history of the section's standard-bearing program as the second-ranked Golden Eagles shredded No. 14 Bullard 52-7 in a nonleague game played before about 4,000 fans Thursday night at McLane Stadium.

Brock rushed 16 times for 156 yards and three touchdowns, caught three passes for 103 yards and a score, and returned a kickoff 99 yards for a TD.

"I'm definitely 100%," he said, sniffling, indicating he actually wasn't. "When we go on the field, we feel we can't be stopped, and it showed tonight."

Most of the time, Brock had his choice of real estate to burn as the shotgun, no-huddle, wing-T offense of first-year coach Mike Parsons baffled the defense of Bullard, which is coming off a 13-0 season that included two conquests of Clovis West en route to its first section Division I title.

The other times, it didn't matter for an athlete who has committed to Nevada.

With an uncanny ability to see the field, avoid trouble, shift gears and explode, Brock increased his season TD total to 17 for a 3-1 team while scoring on runs of 4, 3 and 54 yards, and turning what appeared to be an ordinary screen pass into a 51-yard score as well.

"When we don't block, he makes it happen," Parsons said. "When we do block it well, he's got a big chance to go. He sees the hole and turns it on with a fifth gear, and only 1% of high school kids have that."

Arax, again in awe, flattered Brock by likening him to one of the greatest backs the section has seen -- former Eagle McKay Christensen: "How many adjectives do you want me to use about him? When you see some of the things Brock does, you flash back to McKay in the old days. Kendall's a little bigger but has a lot of the same elements."

Brock had plenty of help as Clovis West made yet another section statement a week after Bullard lost 21-19 on the road against No. 6 Clovis East.

A virtual no-fault performance also featured:

• A defensive drilling charged by end Donovan Lewis (6-2, 230) and linebacker John Winston (6-1, 205), who combine power and speed. The Eagles led 35-0 and had outgained Bullard 368-48 at halftime, and they finished with a 456-177 advantage.
• Clovis West quarterback Ian Hall, clearly comfortable in an offense new to the area, completed 7 of 11 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns.
• Trevor Samson drove all nine of his kickoffs deep into the end zone for touchbacks.
• The Eagles' offensive line owned Bullard behind tackles Jeff Barth and Chad Specht, guards Will McComas and Patrick Markarian, and center Jack Horstmann.
