William V. Pipes of AMEC Geomatrix was named president of the Groundwater Resources Association of California.

David Macedo, president of Tulare Sales Yard Inc. in Tulare, is the Livestock Marketing Association's president for 2010-12.

Sylvia Plumb of Primary Residential Mortgage was the top producing loan consultant for June.

Michelle Verdugo was recognized for outstanding customer service for June by US Mortgage Center.

Doris Tetz Garcia is the new vice president of human resources and organizational development for Adventist Health/Central Valley Network. Garcia oversees the Leadership Development Institute and Human Resources. Patient Care Services new vice president is Kristen Johnson, who is leading the nursing departments of Medical/Surgical, ICU, Women's Services and Emergency Services.

Area students receiving scholarships from the Calcot-Seitz Foundation are: Morganne Burchell, Porterville, $3,000 Julio Gallo Award recipient; Greg Coelho, Riverdale, $3,000 Calcot Directors' Award recipient; Ashley Correia and Lukas Schuh, Lemoore, $3,000 award. Recipients of $2,000 awards: Lauren Gilkey, Hanford and Ethan Silva, Lemoore. $1,000 awards: Anne Badasci, Sebastian Silveira, Lee Wisecarver and Breanne Pacheco, all of Hanford.

Julie Moore, a librarian in the Technical Services Department of the Henry Madden Library at California State University, Fresno, was the 2010 winner of the Nancy B. Olson Award presented by Online Audiovisual Catalogers Inc., an affiliate of the American Library Association.

Cedar View Winery in Sanger recently received a gold medal for its estate-grown Alicante Bouschet in the Orange County Fair Wine Competition. Orange County is the largest competition of California wines in the world.
