Vitals: Buchanan, junior, infield

She's qualified because: First-team All-Tri-River Athletic Conference selection's range and arm at shortstop are arguably without equal in Central Section. O'Dell and Bears second baseman Dom Selby turned nine double plays, and Bears coach Dean Gregory said she threw out at least five runners on balls in the hole that he didn't believe "any other player in the Valley would have." O'Dell's bat is as powerful as her arm. She hit .347 with three doubles, seven triples, three home runs, 27 runs and 28 RBIs.

He said it: "I've never had a shortstop that can do the things she does. Girls hit balls in the 5-6 hole that should be hits and she fires them out. She's got the best arm I've ever seen at shortstop. She hits well, runs well and when she's in a groove, she can tear it apart. She's just a really good athlete." — Buchanan coach Dean Gregory
