A Clovis police officer shot and wounded a 37-year-old man who was threatening his wife with a shotgun early Monday, police said.
The man, identified as Kevin Hill, was in stable condition at Community Regional Medical Center following the 1 a.m. incident, spokeswoman Calli Biaggi said.
According to police, the shooting took place on the 300 block of Cherry Lane where officers were sent to investigate a 9-1-1 call by Hill's estranged wife, who said Hill had a shotgun and was threatening to kill her.
Upon arriving, officers were met by the couple's daughter, who said her father was armed and intended to kill her mother.
Officers went through the home and found Hill and the woman in the backyard. Hill was armed with what turned out to be a loaded shotgun, which he was pointing at his wife. Hill then wheeled around and aimed the weapon at officers, Biaggi said.
