The Clovis West High baseball team is the top-ranked program in the country, according to Baseball America.
The Golden Eagles were No. 3 last week but took over the top spot in the Baseball America/National High School Baseball Coaches Association Top 25 poll after previous No. 1, Menchville High-Newport News, Va. lost its first game of the season.
Also The Bee's top-ranked Central Section team, Clovis West (21-2) defeated Buchanan (19-5 and The Bee's No. 3-ranked team) twice last week. The Golden Eagles play at No. 6 Clovis East today, weather permitting. Clovis West, at 8-1, leads No. 6 Clovis East (13-10, 6-3) by two games in the Tri-River Athletic Conference standings with six games to play.
