Vitals: Clovis West, senior, 119

Need to know: Reached the state finals for the second time in three seasons, falling 3-1 in triple-overtime to La Costa Canyon-Carlsbad’s Bryan Grubbs in a match he led 1-0 through two periods.

His 54-2, 11-pin season included titles at the Reno Tournament of Champions and Doc Buchanan.

Zimmer went on to win the Tri-River Athletic Conference, Yosemite Divisional and Masters championships.

He went 156-12 over three state medal-winning seasons, with a fourth-place finish at 112 pounds as a junior and a second-place finish at 103 pounds as a sophomore.

Has signed with Indiana.

He said it: “Zach is really a well-rounded wrestler. He is good from all three positions. He can dominate from the top, bottom and neutral. And he was probably the hardest working kid in the room. He always tried to make himself better.” — Clovis West coach Ralph Garcia
