Vitals: Golden West, junior, forward

Need to know: Combined the physical play of a fullback with strong ball-handling skills to emerge as Trailblazers’ leading scorer with 25 goals.

The West Yosemite League Offensive Player of the year also had eight assists while helping Golden West win the league title and advance to the Central Section Division II final.

He said it: Garrett is a very hard-working player who plays with his heart on his sleeve. He’s very physically strong with a low center of gravity. He’s very hard to knock off the ball and he can hit it very hard. We had a number of good scorers, but he was the one kid who really had a nose got the goal. When there was a loose ball in the box, he was always pouncing on it.” — Golden West coach John McCaw
