Vitals: Central Valley Christian, sophomore, center
Need to know: In one of the Central Sections most dominant seasons all time for a sophomore, the 6-foot-8 center was named the Central Sequoia League Player of Year.
Verhoeven led the Cavaliers to a 12-0 record in the conference (28-5 overall), the section D-V title and one Southern California Regional win.
He averaged 20.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals.
He said it: We knew he had a high motor, ran the floor well and was a good defender. But, throughout the year, he got more dominant, like a man against the boys. His agility and ability allowed him to guard any position on the floor. What he did for a sophomore was pretty amazing. Cavaliers coach Blake Van Der Schaaf.
