The national tour of "Wicked" will play at the Saroyan Theatre April 6-17, 2011, as part of the next Broadway in Fresno season.
Season subscribers were scheduled to receive an e-mail bulletin Friday afternoon and printed literature about the new season next week, said Kathy Lustica, a spokesperson for Broadway in Fresno.
The only way for the next few weeks to get Fresno tickets to "Wicked" is to be a renewing season subscriber. On April 16, new season ticket subscriptions go on sale. Individual tickets for "Wicked" will go on sale at a later date.
The 12-day Fresno engagement will be the longest Broadway-tour run in the city in recent memory. In 1993, "Les Miserables" played for eight performances, and returned in 1996 for six shows. Other week-long runs at the Saroyan include "Hairspray" and "The Producers."
Currently a long-running "sit down" production of "Wicked" is playing at San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre.
Other Broadway in Fresno shows next season are: "Beauty and the Beast," Nov. 9-10; "The Color Purple," Dec. 7-8; "Legally Blonde," Feb. 1-2; and "Spamalot," March 2-3.
Broadway in Fresno is staging a special press event April 14 at the Saroyan Theatre to provide more details about the season and kick off sales of new season subscriptions. "Wicked" cast members are expected to attend.
