DIVISION I BOYS

NO. 1 BUCHANAN (22-6) vs. NO. 2 CLOVIS EAST (25-4)

When: 8 p.m. Saturday

How they got here: It's been a historic and determined journey for the Bears, sharing their first Tri-River Athletic Conference title in the 18-year history of the program; escaping with a 59-57 quarterfinal win over No. 8 Stockdale without leading player Jackson Carbajal (concussion); and then returning the four-year starter, bolting to a 25-point lead and holding on for a 79-71 victory over No. 5 Centennial. The Timberwolves also earned a piece of that TRAC championship while splitting with Buchanan, and routed No. 7 Clovis West 65-36 in the quarters before holding serve at home with a 73-68 win over No. 6 Bakersfield in the semis.

The skinny: Key for the Bears is how sophomore Alex Fertig -- generally composed under pressure -- holds up against Clovis East senior star Robert Sandoval in a duel of point guards. Carbajal and Timberwolves junior Robert Bailey present another ticket-selling matchup, and both teams are deep in outstanding role players, such as Buchanan's Sam Milhous and Clovis East's Travis Cooper.

DIVISION I GIRLS

NO. 1 CLOVIS WEST (23-4) vs. NO. 2 STOCKDALE (27-3)

When: 6 p.m. Saturday

How they got here: The Golden Eagles coasted to a fifth-straight TRAC title and blasted No. 8 Centennial 90-31 in the quarters before showing a little vulnerability in a 71-65 win over No. 4 Edison in the semis. The Mustangs, as dominant this decade in the Southwest Yosemite League as CW has been in the TRAC, hasn't been pushed in the postseason -- toying with No. 7 Liberty-Bakersfield 77-41 and No. 3 Buchanan 93-63.

The skinny: The teams meet in the D-I final for the fourth straight year -- Stockdale winning 70-60 last season after losing 87-50 and 66-59 to the Eagles previously. The spotlight brightens on Mustangs senior Melissa Sweat, who powered last year's title-game win, transferred to Liberty-Madera Ranchos, transferred back to Stockdale in January (both for family reasons) and has progressively worked back into the system while playing the past two weeks. She's going to San Diego State, teammate Jalei Kinder to Fresno State, and, from CW, Brianna Orlich is going to Columbia, center Janae Coffee to Long Beach State and Se'nyce Parrish to Sacramento State.

DIVISION II BOYS

NO. 1 MEMORIAL (25-6) vs. NO. 3 LIBERTY-BAKERSFIELD (20-8)

When: 8 p.m. today

How they got here: The Panthers won the North Yosemite League and supported its top billing by throttling No. 9 Redwood 67-45 and No. 5 and defending champion Garces 70-46 in the playoffs. The Patriots placed second to D-I member Bakersfield in the Southeast Yosemite League and edged No. 6 West 58-57 in the quarters before upsetting No. 2 Tulare 52-47 on the road in the semis.

The skinny: Guards Bryce Martinho, Colin Stover and MacCauley Stahowski have delivered outstanding senior seasons for Memorial, which has flown largely under the radar despite regular-season conquests of league champions Tulare (East Yosemite), Lemoore (West Yosemite) and Buchanan (TRAC). Liberty counters four-year starter Martinho with three-year letterman Sam Marcus at point guard.

DIVISION II GIRLS

NO. 1 HANFORD (28-3) vs. NO. 2 YOSEMITE (29-2)

When: 6 p.m. today

How they got here: Hanford cleaned up per usual in the WYL before defeating No. 8 Sunnyside 89-30 and No. 4 Garces 94-56 in the playoffs. Yosemite cleaned up per usual in the North Sequoia League before advancing here with wins over No. 10 Sanger (62-29) and No. 6 Redwood (64-43).
