Comcast has made a few changes in recent weeks.

The biggest change is the move of KGMC (Channel 43.1) to the Limited Basic-Digital package. That means if you just buy the basic package you won't be able to see the channel.

Here's the reason for the change: KGMC moved from an analog signal to digital and the basic package doesn't include digital channels. It remains on Comcast Channel 10 but can be seen only by those with the digital package.

Once KGMC went digital, that opened up space to add two more digital channels to the Comcast lineup. Those additions are KJEO (Channel 32.1) on channel 187, which shows Universal Sports, and the Spanish-language MegaTV on KSDI (Channel 33.2) on channel 200.

Also, if you are a digital customer, you may need to reset parental controls and automatic-record settings. Disruptions were caused with some customers by the upgrades.

Be sure to check your Parental Control Locks by channel, scheduled DVR recordings, program reminders and favorite lists. If you don't use these services, then the changes will not affect you.

Delayed

Technical problems delayed Tuesday's launch of "Straight Talk with John Malos," a talk/news show to air Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. on centralvalleytalk.com. Unless something else goes wrong, it will start today.

The Web site features several locally produced talk shows. Programming on the Internet-based radio-video network is simulcast on KSDI (Channel 33.1).

Sad news

Sharan Magnuson, the Corcoran native who won the Miss Fresno title in 1980, is leaving her position as the senior vice president of worldwide publicity for Warner Bros. Television Group. She decided to leave because of ongoing medical issues that have resulted in four cervical-disc replacement surgeries in less than four years.

Magnuson has been known as one of the best publicists in Hollywood for years. She will be deeply missed.

Radio news

Now you see it: You can watch radio at 8 p.m. tonight as KFSR (FM 90.7) presents a screening of "A Prairie Home Companion" at Fresno Edwards Stadium 22.

"This is the live show and not the Robert Altman film," says Joe Moore, KFSR station manager.

A performance of the radio program at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minn., will be beamed to 500 participating movie theaters and performing arts centers.

Tickets are $22 for tonight's broadcast and $18 for an encore on Tuesday. They are available at prairiehome.org.

If you prefer to only hear the show, "A Prairie Home Companion" airs 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon Sundays on KFSR.

New offerings: KVPR (FM 89.3) has added two new Web site features at kvpr.org: Air Quality Reports and a downloadable Audiophile program guide. The local station will provide information on the Central San Joaquin Valley's air quality index and burn/no burn status.

Air quality reports will also be announced three times weekdays at 7:06 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. They can also be heard at 7:06 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5:38 p.m. Saturdays and 8:18 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:59 p.m. Sundays.

Green days: The City of Fresno Solid Waste Division is working with KJWL (FM 99.3) to encourage local business to recycle.

Any local business that signs a new agreement with the city of Fresno to start a recycling program gets $1,000 worth of free air time on KJWL. For more information call (559) 621-1111.
