The Fresno Bee and fresnobee.com are launching the 15th annual Academic All-Stars competition to honor outstanding students in the central San Joaquin Valley.

The competition is an effort to shine a spotlight on children’s accomplishments. Students are evaluated on academic achievement, community involvement and leadership within and outside of school.

In last year’s competition, judges chose winners from more than 1,300 nominations.

If you know a student who should be considered this year, please complete the Academic All-Stars form and return it to The Bee, or nominate a student online.

Students in first through 12th grades are eligible to enter the competition. A winner and runners-up will be recognized in each grade.

A short story will be written about each first-place winner, and the names of all nominees will appear on fresnobee.com on May 16. Previous winners are not eligible for All-Star status, but their names may be published as nominees.

Nominations must be received no later than Feb. 26.
