The California Department of Public Health warned people Saturday not to consume three brands of lemon and lime juices.
Citrovita, Byblos and Golchin brands contain FD&C Yellow Number 5 food coloring, according to a news release from the department.
People who have a severe sensitivity to the food coloring and use these products risk a serious or life-threatening reaction.
The department found the additive in some of the juices produced by Anaheim-based Ataco International Inc., which has denied using the food coloring.
Consumers should discard the juices or return them to where they bought them, the department said.
