Year: Freshman

She's qualified because: County/Metro Athletic Conference Girls Runner of the Year established herself as an athlete to watch in the next three seasons, not only in the section but state as well. She ran fourth in the section Division I finals at 18:11 and then 18th in the state at 18:23. Only La Costa Canyon-Carlsbad's Kelly Lawson (18:16) timed better for a freshman.

He said it: "She was dealing with a little bit of confidence — lack of — before realizing she wasn't that far behind our No. 1 runner \[Lyndsie Etherton\]. As a freshman, the intimidation factor is difficult to surpass, but she exceeded all expectations and has a great future." — Knights coach Jesse Rubio.
