A deep and sudden slump in sales has caused Pizza Fusion -- which had an organic and healthy menu that separated it from many other chains -- to close in Clovis.

The restaurant at Fowler and Herndon avenues closed Sunday, said owner Mike Parisi.

The franchise opened in October 2008, and enjoyed strong sales until last summer, when business dropped off and didn't recover.

"I really felt like we were doing something special," said Parisi. "It is a sign of the times."
