Fresno's Washington Union High School District will be honored Dec. 5 at the 30th annual Golden Bell Awards in San Diego.

The ceremony, hosted by the California School Boards Association, will recognize the district's Health Institute Program, a four-year educational pathway that serves about 10% of the student population.

The program, founded in 2003, prepares students for postsecondary education and a career in health and medicine.

Golden Bell Awards recognize outstanding programs in California school districts and offices of education.
