Throughout the Top 20 competition, Jason Glover's fortunes on "So You Think You Can Dance" shot up and down more violently than the beleaguered vocal cords of banshee judge Mary Murphy. Not all of it was Jason's doing: Choreographers and partners were the luck of the draw. Here's a roller-coaster recap:
Week 1: Jason and partner Caitlin Kinney wow the judges with a Bollywood routine. Praise all around.Week 2: An anemic hip-hop routine by Shane Sparks lands Jason in the Bottom 3. Big scare.Week 3: After a stern turn as a pseudo Roman gladiator, Jason once again flails in the Bottom 3, nearly getting kicked off. Low point.Week 4: Jason gets stuck with easily the silliest choreography of the season: a bizarre piece of "pop jazz" choreography that involved an alien, a space suit that looked like a tinfoil-swathed condom and a submissive male getting impregnated. But he dances well and avoids the Bottom 3.Week 5: Once again in the Bottom 3, squeaks by with a foxtrot and a lyrical jazz number to make it into the Top 10.Week 6: Jason lands a new partner, Jeanine Mason, and tears up the dance floor in terms of technique and chemistry (including a torrid lip lock). A high point. Could he go all the way?Week 7: On a roll in terms of personality and emotional range, Jason performs two routines: a slick Broadway number and an entertaining "zombie" hip-hop creation. Judges love him, and he even gets invited on Murphy's ear-piercing "hot tamale train." And then, in a shocker, he gets booted off the show. Just like that, it's over. Fresno groans. But at least he gets to go on tour.
