There have been several changes to the KBOS (FM 94.9) on-air lineup with the abrupt firings of Danny Salas two weeks ago and Mo'nique on Friday.

The station's general manager, Jeff Negrete, wouldn't comment on the departures because it is a personnel matter -- except to say he was looking for "the best talent out there" to fill the slots.

Salas, who was with the radio station known better as B95 since 2001, wouldn't comment on any details having to do with his firing.

He would only say his biggest regret was not getting to say goodbye to the listeners. Salas was best known for hosting the "Ruthless Radio" show.

Mo'nique was one of three members of the station's morning show, The Juice Crew. Hours after she was fired Friday, she was on the air with crosstown rival KSEQ (FM 97.1).

Bill Lynch, Q97 station manager, says Mo'nique's on-air stint was a tryout. No decision has been made as to her future with Q97.

Salas is looking at jobs in and out of radio.

"This may be a good time to use my bachelor's degree in mass communication and journalism," Salas says.

TV honors

KFTV (Channel 21.1) won the top honor for Best Newscast (30 minutes -- Division B) at this year's Radio-Television News Directors Association of Northern California Awards for its "Noticias 21 a las 11."

Awards were selected from 180 entries from 29 television and radio newsrooms in Northern California and Reno.

KFSN (Channel 30.1) picked up top honors in the Special News Program (Division B) category for "Children First: Hope in Hard Times."

Back in town

Amy Goodman, host of "Democracy Now," is coming back to Fresno for a noon luncheon Nov. 20.

Her appearance is in connection with her new book, "Breaking the Sound Barrier," and is a benefit for KFCF (FM 88.1). The luncheon will be held at the IAM Union Hall, 544 W. Olive.

Tickets are $30-$45 and available at www.brownpaper tickets.org or by calling (559) 233-2221.
