Current and retired National Guard and military reservists will receive special recognition at Friday's Veterans Ceremony at Fresno City College.

The ceremony is at noon in the Veterans Peace Memorial near the free speech area. Veterans and the public are invited to attend.

The ceremony will include a helicopter flyover, a rifle salute and the playing of taps. The keynote speaker will be Col. Jonathan S. Flaugher, commander of the 144th Fighter Wing, California Air National Guard, Fresno.

Robert E. Fox, retired City College vice president of student services, will be a special honoree. Fox was the first black person to be commissioned as a second lieutenant by the Officer Candidate School at the Indiana Military Academy.

Reservists and citizen soldiers who will attend are asked to contact the college's activities office at (559) 265-5711 or fcc.collegeactivities@fresnocitycollege.edu.
