Latest Bronco to ride: Add Kevin Schofield to a star-studded list of Dos Palos running backs. Schofield, a junior following the likes of Kenny James, Earl Austin, Rodney Davis and Dean Collins, has rushed for 895 yards and nine touchdowns in six games after being named the North Sequoia League Sophomore of the Year in 2008. "It is nearly impossible for anyone to work as hard as Kevin does," coach Mike Sparks said. "He is a 4.0 [grade-point average] student who is polite, amiable and respectful."

Bullpups reunion: Several players from the only 10-0 regular season team in Hanford history, in 1974, will be honored tonight during the Bullpups' homecoming game against Tulare Western. The team featured future NFL players in Jewerl Thomas and Mark Lee; a future pro baseball player in Danny Coulon, the quarterback; and coach Glenn "Duffy" Dufour, who will be present.

State rankings: Buchanan is No. 22 and Bullard No. 25 in Cal-Hi Sports' state top 25 rankings. In Cal-Hi's state bowl south rankings, Buchanan is No. 8 and Bullard No. 11 in D-I, Tulare No. 7 in D-II and Taft No. 8 in D-III.

He said it: "When we throw an incomplete pass in practice, we do up-downs. Any time the ball hits the ground, we get punished. We just expect the ball to get caught. And, we throw a lot of high-percentage passes and have good players." -- Tulare coach Darren Bennett on his teams' 76% and 68% passing percentages the past two seasons.

PLAYER IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Eric Kendricks, Hoover: The senior powers the No. 14 Patriots into a County/Metro Athletic Conference game against No. 17 Clovis North after rushing for 125 yards, adding 80 receiving and scoring three times in a 34-18 win over Sanger last week.

GAMES IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Clovis West (2-4) at Buchanan (6-0): It's No. 8 vs. No. 1, but lacking some appeal after the Golden Eagles' 24-3 loss to Central in Week 6.

Fresno Christian (4-2) at Fowler (4-2): A year after failing to complete the season because of a small roster, Fresno Christian is in position to take control of the West Sequoia League in this showdown with the Redcats.

Strathmore (5-1) at Lindsay (5-2): This key East Sequoia League game matches the teams for the 87th time. Lindsay leads the series, including a 21-7 win last year that broke a four-game Spartans winning streak.
