Reedley College's football team isn't known for its kicking game. But Curtice O'Neill changed all that Saturday in Pleasant Hill.

The freshman out of Clovis East High kicked two field goals, including a 28-yarder with 1.7 seconds left that gave the Northern California No. 7-ranked Tigers a 30-27 victory over No. 14 Diablo Valley.

Tigers tailback Avery Horn, the state's fifth-leading rusher, carried 30 times for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Jesse Lownsbury completed 8 of 22 passes for 197 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown throw to Enadiahe Eguaze.

Diablo Valley's Blake Wayne was 32 of 50 passing for 302 yards and two touchdowns.

Reedley has a bye week before hosting College of the Sequoias on Oct. 16 to open Valley Conference play.

-- Fresno City 66, Los Medanos 33: The No. 9 Rams completed a brutal nonconference schedule that included four road games by toying with unranked Los Medanos in Pittsburg.

Fresno City bolted to a 31-0 first-quarter lead in winning its third straight after opening the season with two setbacks.

"We had some short fields the first half and capitalized," said Rams coach Tony Caviglia, whose team hosts West Hills in two weeks. "It was just great to have our kids prepare so well in a possible letdown situation, and go on the road and play so well."

Fresno City had upset unbeaten Santa Rosa on the road the previous week.

The Rams defense concentrated on Mustangs running back Thomas Hampton, the state's leading rusher, and held him under 100 yards. He had been averaging 218.

-- Sequoias 47, Hartnell 14: Chris Mayabb passed for 281 yards and three touchdowns as the Giants won their second straight heading into conference play.

Mayabb completed 17 of 24 passes, including one to Delano Henry for 90 yards to open the scoring. Henry had three catches for 128 yards.

Ken Stigner had an 80-yard kickoff return, and Dereck Harris ran back an interception 34 yards for a score.
