Jury selection started Monday in the murder trial of Dave Hawk, but a judge has yet to decide whether the case will be moved out of Kings County because of extensive publicity.

Judge Daniel Creed, a visiting judge from Santa Clara, is expected to rule this week on a defense motion for a change of venue.

Meanwhile, the first group of 90 potential jurors arrived at the Kings County courthouse Monday.

Jurors were given questionnaires to determine whether the jury pool in Kings County has been tainted by excessive news coverage -- as alleged by Hawk's defense attorneys.

Hawk, a Lemoore resident, is accused of murdering his ex-wife, Debbie Hawk, who disappeared in 2006. Her body has never been found.

If the trial stays in Kings County, opening arguments are scheduled to start Aug. 10.
