REEDLEY -- Two men were arrested Thursday on suspicion of drugging and raping a minor girl and a third was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape of an underage girl in two separate incidents in the Reedley College dormitory.

William J. Smith, board president of the State Center Community College District that includes Reedley College, said officials told him that two girls, who are under 18 years of age, said they were sexually assaulted.

One of the men, Anthony Holloway, 19, was a freshman linebacker on Reedley's 2008 football team. The roster lists his hometown as Jacksonville, Fla. The other two, Mandel Dejon Wright, 20, and Carl Leon Robinson, 20, are believed to be recruits for this year's team.

Wright, from San Jose, started his collegiate career at West Valley College in Saratoga in 2007. Robinson's hometown wasn't known.

All three men were being held in the Fresno County Jail.

The alleged assaults occurred July 17 and Monday, said Lucy Ruiz, Reedley College spokeswoman.

According to Fresno County Jail booking information, the three men were arrested on the charges by the State Center district police department.

District police Chief Joseph Callahan and Lt. Richard Gains would not take a reporter's phone calls seeking other information on the case.

Smith, the district board president, said an investigation is under way: "We take very seriously our charge with respect to protecting minors who attend or visit our institutions."

The college has summer programs that high school students attend.

Wright and Holloway were arrested on suspicion of raping a drugged victim, sexual intercourse with a minor and sexual battery. Robinson was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, sexual battery and false imprisonment.

It was not clear which incident occurred July 17 and which happened Monday.

This is the second time in three years that a Reedley College player or former player has been accused of sexual acts with a minor girl.

Former Reedley College football player Mackey Lee Davis was sentenced to three years on probation for his role in the molestation of an 11-year-old girl in July 2006.

In 1995, two Kings River Community College (now Reedley College) players pleaded no contest to raping a woman in a school dorm.
