He’s qualified because: His team credited him with pushing them to the extreme in practice so matches were easier.

Conditioning exercises included running the mile weekly and sprints after practice.

In response, his Golden Eagles bounced back from runner-up status in 2008 to win the Division I title over Stockdale in 2009. It was the program’s 13th championship.

He said it: “He just really motivated us. He got us through some tough matches. We worked really hard in practice so when we got to the Valley championships everything was a lot easier. ...
