Vitals: Redwood, senior, infielder

He’s qualified because: West Yosemite League unanimous MVP, with numbers that exceeded Rangers alum and current major leaguer Aaron Hill.

Hit .449 with five doubles, three triples, a Tulare County record 13 home runs, scored 41 runs, drove in 39, had a .959 slugging percentage, struck out 12 times in 98 at-bats and stole 14 bases in 17 attempts.

The shortstop hit .688 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in six games against section Division II and III champions Edison and Hanford. Next stop: Oregon State.

He said it: “Blake had the best offensive season I’ve ever seen. He hit every kind of pitch and he hit to all fields. I’ve never been more impressed with a high school hitter. He showed patience and poise well beyond his years. He was a team captain and had a 3.80 GPA. It was truly special to have Blake for three years.” — Redwood coach Mario Celillo
