Vitals: Clovis West, senior, utility

He’s qualified because: Tri-River Athletic Conference co-Player of the Year and a strong candidate for The Bee’s top honor, the left-hander powered the Eagles into the D-I championship with a dual role.

He hit .341, scoring a team-high 34 runs, driving in 25 and walking 18 times for a .477 on-base percentage.

And he went 11-1 with a no-hitter, two saves, a 1.69 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 78.2 innings.

He may join teammate J.D. Salles at Fresno State as a walk-on.

He said it: “He really worked hard in the offseason and added 5 to 6 mph on his fastball. He had a dominant season on the mound and at the plate. We felt every time he took the mound we were going to win and, offensively, he’s one of the guys we wanted up in a clutch situation.”— Clovis West coach Kevin Patrick
