  I've been a Fresno State student for a few years and have always thought that the campus was smoke-free. I thought that until "smoking area" signs were put up around the campus.

  There are even smoking areas around the buildings that house day care centers. Even though these designated areas exist, the signs do not signify anything because people are still smoking anywhere they choose.

  One of the places I see most people smoking is right in front of the library where hundreds of students, staff and campus visitors go in and out every day. I also see people just walking across campus smoking.
