Winning a Central Section title wasn't enough for the Washington High baseball team.

The Panthers also finished the 2009 season ranked No. 1 in the state in Division IV, according to Cal-Hi Sports.

Washington (31-3 overall) moved up from second in the Division IV rankings when San Jacinto (27-2) lost early in the Southern Section playoffs.

The last Central Section team to finish first in the Division IV rankings was Yosemite in 1994.

Clovis West (29-6), the Central Section runner-up in Division I, finished No. 12 in Cal-Hi Sports' overall rankings, followed by No. 23 Buchanan (24-5-1) and No. 32 Clovis (24-8). Clovis West and Buchanan were No. 12 and No. 20, respectively, in Division I.

Edison (22-11) finished No. 13 in the state Division II rankings, while Liberty-Madera Ranchos (24-7) was No. 3 in Division V.

In the final state softball rankings, Central Section Division I champion Buchanan (26-7-1) finished No. 16 overall, while runner-up Bullard (21-7) was No. 29.

Tulare Western (27-7), the section Division II champion, was ranked No. 38 overall and No. 7 in Division II. Hanford West (20-13) was No. 11 in Division III.
