School: Buchanan

Year: Sophomore

Positions: Midfielder/forward

Need to know: The second-year Buchanan player was named the Tri-River Athletic Conference Player of the Year after being named the Bears’ MVP the past two years.

Medina scored 14 goals and tallied six assists after getting six goals and nine assists as a freshman. He is a member of the USA Under-15 national team and also was the only freshman selected to the Adidas national training camp; he was invited to this year’s camp, as well. Medina plays for the Under-16 California Odyssey National Academy in Clovis.

Said Buchanan coach John Spurgeon: “JP has a tremendous work rate and technical skill to go with great soccer knowledge and awareness on the field.”
