School: Bullard

Year: Junior

Position: Defender

Need to know: Young is a second-year player for Bullard and coach Igal Francis called him “the heart of the defense.”

Strong in the air and with foot skills to match, Young anchored a Bullard defense that allowed just two goals in the first two rounds of the CIF Southern California Division I Regional playoffs. The Knights gave up three goals in three matches this season en route to the Central Section Division I title.

“Chris is a very athletic young man that reads the game very well,” Francis said. “He has organized our defense and has picked up well on our flat-back four lineup that differed significantly from the three backs which they played with last year. Chris is one of the best headers of a ball that I have seen for years. He has tremendous leadership skills and is a sure-fire future captain of Bullard.”
