School: Memorial High

Year: Senior

Position: Midfielder/forward

Need to know: A four-year starter, Garcia had 46 career goals and 42 assists. She led Memorial with 11 goals and 12 assists this season and was named the team’s co-Most Valuable Player. More than 50%of the goals and assists during her career were game-winning or tying. Garcia is a three-time first-team All-North Yosemite League pick; she made the second team as a freshman. She was named Memorial’s Best Offensive Player the past two seasons.

“She is a total soldier,” Memorial coach Patrick Evans said. “She plays hard, plays hurt and never complains. She has high technical ability, is dual-footed, has wicked speed and can penetrate or score from the edge.”

Garcia also is an accomplished track athlete who won NYL titles in the 100 and 200 meters as a sophomore but missed half of the 2008 season while recovering from knee surgery. She has a 4.0 grade-point average and will walk on at Cal Poly.

Memorial went 8-0-2 to win the NYL. The fifth-seeded Panthers (12-7-4) lost on penalty kicks to No. 4 Redwood in the Central Section Division II quarterfinals.
