School: Selma High

Year: Senior

Position: Forward

Need to know: A three-year varsity starter, Hamilton scored 46 goals and had 10 assists, and helped Selma, seeded third in the Division IV playoffs, beat top-seeded Central Valley Christian 3-2 for its first section title. The Bears went 10-2 to place second to CVC in the Central Sequoia League and finished the season at 17-9-1.

Hamilton was named the CSL’s Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. In the playoffs she scored five goals in a 7-1 quarterfinal win over Taft, one in a 2-1 semifinal victory over McLane and one in the final against CVC. Hamilton scored 44 goals as a sophomore and 36 as a junior.

Selma coach Oscar Flores said working against senior stopper Amanda Almaguer (the CSL’s Defensive Player of the Year) and senior sweeper Natalie Xavier during practice this season helped Hamilton tremendously.

“She has an absolute ability to beat the last defenders,” Flores said. “She doesn’t choke up when it’s her and the goalie; she’s a true finisher. She can play with the Division I teams.”

Flores said Hamilton has received interest from several colleges but has not made a decision.

“Demi Hamilton would start for anyone in the Valley,” Memorial coach Pat Evans said. “Anyone who has any sense in coaching will tell you that kid can play anywhere.”
