School: Clovis

Year: Senior

Position: Goalkeeper

Need to know: Clark allowed just six goals the entire season for the Cougars, who went undefeated at 10-0 to win the Tri-River Athletic Conference and 22-1-2 overall. A first-team All-TRAC pick, she posted 15 shutouts in 25 games as a senior. Clark is a three-year varsity player and two-year starter. She also is an AP student and plays in the orchestra.

“She had a tough sophomore season that began with an injury and then she had some tough games where she made mistakes,” Clovis coach Jon Howerton said. “Her junior year was different. Kayla was healthy and more confident and did a good job for us. Her senior year was her best. She came out in top physical shape and full of confidence and enthusiasm. Kayla was best in one-on-one situations, but was very good at shot blocking and winning balls played in the air.”

The Cougars lost to Stockdale in the semifinals of the Central Section Division I playoffs.

Clark is headed to Fresno State on a full scholarship to the Smittcamp Family Honors College. She does not plan to play soccer.
