Lance Reeves helped extend a prolific four-year career at Central Valley Christian High by scoring 27 points with five assists in the Cavaliers' 81-66 victory over View Park-Los Angeles on Tuesday in the CIF Southern California Regional boys basketball playoffs.

Reeves, with more than 1,600 career points, leads the fourth-seeded and Central Section champion Cavaliers against No. 1 Windward-Los Angeles in a regional semifinal tonight.

Question: How were you guys able to pull off Tuesday's win over View Park?

Answer: It was pretty close at half and coach made an adjustment to zone. They couldn't score from there.

How would you assess your team's chances against top-seeded Windward?

We're looking forward to it. We know they are a good team, but we'll be ready.

What is it going to take to come away with a victory?

Probably our best game of the year defensively and offensively.

You'll be going head-to-head with a point guard who's headed to Michigan, how do you plan to deal with him?

Hopefully I'll keep him in front and try to keep him from scoring.

You scored 31 points in a season-opening 60-59 loss to perennial Division I power Clovis West. What impact did that effort have on your season?

I knew even before that game we could compete with most teams and that proved it to us. It gave our guys a lot of confidence going into the year.

What do you enjoy most about playing basketball?

Just doing it as a team. I enjoy having the other guys out there with me.

Who's your favorite player and why?

Steve Nash.

Why?

He's so smooth in the way he distributes the ball, and he can shoot. He's fun to watch.

What's next for you? Any plans to play in college?

I'm not sure yet. I'm trying to play at some schools. JC is always a possibility. I'll figure it out in the next couple of months. I'd like to play another four years.

Who wins in a game of one on one, you or your coach (CVC career scoring leader Blake Van Der Schaaf)?

He never plays with us much, but I think he could probably take me.

Have you always had that long, floppy hair?

Last year it was pretty short, but I like it long. It's fun and it gets a reaction out of the crowd.
