School: Exeter

Year: Senior

Height/weight: 5-11, 185

He’s qualified because: He closed one of the most prolific careers in Central Section history by rushing for 2,691 yards and scoring a total of 43 touchdowns — the last a 74-yarder straight up the gut on the final carry of his career in a 29-28 Division IV playoff loss to Washington.

He finished with 6,149 yards rushing and 94 touchdowns in a three-year career.

Teammates, coaches, opponents and fans marveled more at his durability than statistics. Slight of build, he carried 324 times this year — an average of 29.4 a game — and 787 for his career. And he continued to get up.

The word: “He’s a once-in-a-lifetime type of player. Football coaches always want guys with heart, and this guy has the biggest heart ever made. Everybody knew he was getting the ball because we couldn’t throw it. He got most of his yards in the second half of almost every game. Everybody spied him — everybody. And he had nothing to take the pressure off — nothing. He had himself. He’ll walk on [in college] and get a scholarship the first year.” — Monarchs coach Ben White.
