He’s qualified because: Nine months after making The Bee’s All-Star basketball team following a Central Section championship season, he’s here again.

This time on the football marquee after scoring 20 touchdowns in four ways while powering the Bullpups into a section title game for the first time in 26 years. They lost 21-14 to Tehachapi, but only after Williams caught 11 passes and intercepted one.

He finished with 70 receptions for 950 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also scored touchdowns rushing (four), on punt returns (three) and an interception.

The word: “He had deceptive speed and great vision. I think he gets that in basketball — he sees a lane and takes it, real smooth with good cuts and long steps for his frame. He provided a lot of leadership for the team, too. He’s a special guy who gives everything he’s got on every play, is great in the classroom and very generous with his time. He’s a great citizen with a big heart.” — Bullpups coach Josh Young.
