Hes qualified because: Without having attempted a varsity pass entering his senior year, he went from a question mark in August to the answer in December, when he was the sections best quarterback playing against the best competition as the Golden Eagles captured the Central Section Division I title.
In playoff wins over Liberty-Bakersfield, Bullard and Clovis East, he managed a spread offense almost without flaw, passing for 388 yards and two touchdowns, and rushing 45 times for 178 yards and three more scores.
He accounted for 2,388 of the teams 4,100 total yards, and 17 touchdowns. Next stop for the All-Tri-River Athletic Conference selection: Washington State of the Pac-10.
The word: He started playing his best ball late and that was the difference, the offense playing well to match our defense. With his legs and with his arm, he was completing passes, running to get us out of plays, checking off and scrambling when he needed to. He was truly a dual-threat kid. And from not playing last year to playing as he did this year was unbelievable. He was the epitome of our season: At the beginning, he was not ready to go; at the end, he was the best quarterback around. And, at the end, he was making great suggestions. Hes got a future in coaching, no doubt. Golden Eagles coach Gary Kinne.
