School: El Diamante

Year: Senior

Height/weight: 6-4, 320

He’s qualified because: Central Section conversation regarding the best offensive lines began with El Diamante.

And the Miners’ front, again, began with Capella.

A repeat Bee All-Star, the left tackle will take with him to UCLA size, preferred footwork and toughness that cleared interference the past two seasons for Earl Rhodes and Stefphon Jefferson, and teams that went 23-3 while finishing first and second in the Central Section Division II playoffs.

The word: “When he blocked people, he ended up blocking two or three sometimes. The thing that impressed me a lot, even though he had already committed to UCLA [before the season], he became a team leader and led by example. We always knew he had good feet and size. The thing we wondered was would he develop more toughness, and he did that. He’s the best I’ve had.” — Miners coach Mark Rogers.
