School: Buchanan

Year: Senior

Height/weight: 6-5, 255

He’s qualified because: Three-year starting left tackle was named Lineman of the Year in the Tri-River Athletic Conference, whose title the Bears shared with Clovis West and Clovis East.

Committed to Fresno State, he didn’t allow a sack and was the team’s highest-graded lineman for all 12 games as Buchanan went 9-3 and reached the Central Section’s Division I semifinals.

The word: “Because we threw the ball so much, the left tackle was a key, key position, protecting the backside of the quarterback. After he committed to Fresno State, I got calls from several big-time schools. I don’t know if I ever had a player who was that consistent. I could send any film to any recruiter and the opponent didn’t matter because they would come back interested.” — Bears coach Mike Vogt.
