  A friend and I were driving from Houston to Omaha to spend Christmas with my family. It was well below zero and the car wouldn't start the next morning. We found a AAA provider, Mr. Hansen, at a repair shop near the motel, who told us the car couldn't be repaired until the day after Christmas. It was Christmas Eve day and we were over 80 miles from Omaha.

  Mr. Hansen didn't want us to be alone in a motel for the night, so he invited us to come to Christmas Eve dinner with him and his wife at his mother's house in a nearby town. We had a wonderful welcome from his mother and family, and could see where Mr. Hansen got his loving compassion and concern for others. His mother was a bundle of energy, enthusiasm and love. We felt at home, and she even told us to come back anytime.

  The next day, someone from my family drove the 80 miles to pick us up on Christmas Day. We will never forget the kindness of a stranger, who made sure our Christmas Eve was filled with laughter and joy.
