Vitals: Buchanan, senior

She’s qualified because: She placed sixth at the Tri-River Athletic Conference championship with a 19:26 over 3.1 miles.

She was fifth in Division I at the Central Section Championships (19:04) and 40th at the state meet (18:51).

She was second in the senior girls 2-mile race at the Kingsburg Invitational (11:57), 35th at the Clovis Invitational (19:02) and 27th at the Mt. SAC Invitational (19:58).

The word: “She has done what you want every girl to do in a program, and that is get better by the time she’s a senior,” Buchanan coach Marty Simpson said. “She’s one of the success stories — that hard work and determination pays off.”
