Vitals: Buchanan, sophomore

She’s qualified because: She was Buchanan’s top finisher at the Central Section Championships, finishing second in the Division I race in 18:35 over the 3.1-mile course.

She also was the Bears’ top finisher at the state meet and 33rd overall in 18:39.

She placed second in the sophomore girls 2-mile race at the Kingsburg Invitational, clocking a school-record 11:37.

She was 13th at the Clovis Invitational (18:34), 14th at the Mt. SAC Invitational (19:36) and fourth at the Tri-River Athletic Conference championship (19:19).

The word: “She had a phenomenal year,” Buchanan coach Marty Simpson said. “She got herself motivated and to believe in herself and she started training hard.”
