Clovis West High
Year: Senior
Height/position: 6-3, middle blocker
Shes qualified because: Albertson was sidelined much of Tri-River Athletic Conference play last season after injuring her ankle in the league opener. This year, her 292 kills ranked third on the team; she led the Eagles with 113 blocks. According to MaxPreps, her 51.2 hitting percentage was tops in the section. Clovis West won the Central Section D-I title by beating Liberty-Bakersfield. The Eagles lost in the semifinals of the CIF Southern California D-I playoffs.
Lauren Albertson and Mikayla Pierce, the Bee's other co-Player of the Year, have many things in common. Both were team captains for a loaded Golden Eagles volleyball team that won the and the first Central Section championship in the sport in the schools 30-year history. Both carry 3.7 grade-point averages and are ambassadors for Clovis West through the Eagle of Honor program (Albertson for Link Crew, the schools freshman outreach program; Pierce for volleyball). Both want to be surgeons. Both shared TRAC MVP, their teams top offensive player and Clovis Invitational all-tournament honors.
