Year: Senior

Height/position: 5-10, outside hitter

She's qualified because: Pierce and Lauren Albertson, the Bee's other co-Player of the Year, have many things in common. Both were team captains for a loaded Golden Eagles volleyball team that won the Tri-River Athletic Conference and the first Central Section championship in the sport in the school’s 30-year history. Both carry 3.7 grade-point averages and are ambassadors for Clovis West through the Eagle of Honor program (Pierce for volleyball and Albertson for Link Crew, the school’s freshman outreach program). Both want to be surgeons. Both shared TRAC MVP, their team’s top offensive player and Clovis Invitational all-tournament honors.

Pierce ranked second on the team with 368 kills. She also had 11 blocks and 125 digs. Clovis West won the Central Section D-I title by beating Liberty-Bakersfield. The Eagles lost in the semifinals of the CIF Southern California D-I playoffs.

The word: "She's somebody you have to key on," Clovis East coach Vicki Samarin said. "But she’s difficult to defend because she has a very quick arm swing; she beats the block. She wants the ball. She’s a go-to girl. And she’s a good, solid defensive player in the back row, too."
