Year: Senior

School: Clovis West

Singles record: 18-0

She's qualified because: TRAC singles champion, co-Player of the Year with Kelly Jue of Clovis East. Went undefeated at No. 1 for Golden Eagles. Was seeded No. 5 in section singles tourney, but missed it because of illness.

The word: "Laya is the hardest worker I have ever seen during practice. She led by example, playing when sick, always putting the team first. She is very mentally tough, a bulldog on the court." -- Clovis West coach Mark Belman.
